This section of the guide will cover the Payment Method - PayPal. You can access this page by clicking on Shopping Cart from your main menu and then clicking Payment Methods from the dropdown menu.
Payment Methods - PayPal Fundamental
The PayPal Express Checkout gateway allows customers to make payments using their PayPal account. This payment option is an alternative to card-based or direct debit payment options. Paypal Express Checkout allows shoppers to pay on your website with a Paypal account. The shopper is automatically taken to the Paypal site to make their payment and returned to your site upon completion.

In this section, you will learn to use the Payment Methods - PayPal module. This module enables you to set up the PayPal Payment Method, which customers can use from your website’s checkout.
This guide will be separated into three sections for configuring the PayPal Payment Method.
- ● 1 Create PayPal Business Account. In this step, you will create a PayPal Business Account. You must have an account with PayPal so that you can link it to your Build CMS Account. You will also link a bank account to your business account.
- ● 2 Acquire PayPal API Keys. In this step, you will receive the necessary credentials from the PayPal team to set up the integration of this payment method with your website.
- ● 3 PayPal Setup in Build CMS. In this step, you will enter your credentials into the Build CMS to complete your integration with PayPal.
Once you have completed all of these steps, PayPal will be available as a Payment Method from your website’s checkout. Now that you have learned the fundamental ideas, you can continue with the first section (Create PayPal Account).
(1) Create PayPal Account
To create an account with PayPal, you should visit the PayPal site and sign up online. You will be brought to the following page:
- ● 1 Business Account. Select the Business Account option and Continue to follow the steps needed to Sign up for PayPal. You will be given the option to link a bank account to your account.
After you have created an account, you can also add a bank account in the following way. First, navigate to Account Settings.
- ● 1 Select Money, banks and cards from the Business Profile submenu.
- ● 2 Under Banks, click on Link a new bank.
After you have finished setting up your account, you can move on to the next section (Acquire PayPal API Keys).
(2) Acquire PayPal API Keys
In this step, you must copy your credentials from PayPal so that you can later enter these into the Build CMS. There are three necessary credentials that PayPal will provide to you.
- ● 1. API Username.
- ● 2. API Password.
- ● 3. API Signature.
This guide will now walk you through the steps to accessing the above credentials from your PayPal Account.
- ● 1 Activity. Click on Activity from the top menu.
- ● 2 API Access. Click on API Access from the submenu, to bring up a new screen:
- ● 1 NVP/SOAP API Integration. Scroll down the page until you reach this section. Then click on Manage API Credentials.
- ● 1 Request API signature. Select this option to receive the API Signature which you will enter into your Build CMS Account.
- ● 2 Agree and Submit. Read the API License Agreement and Terms of Use then click on the Agree and Submit button.
After you have received the above credentials from PayPal, you can move on to the next section (PayPal Setup in Build CMS).
(3) PayPal Setup in Build CMS
Navigate to Shopping Cart and click Payment Methods from the dropdown. From there, navigate to Payment Methods - PayPal by selecting PayPal from the menu. You will now enter the API credentials you have gathered from your PayPal Account, to complete the process of syncing your Build CMS Account with your PayPal Account.
- ● 1 Username. In this field, enter the API Username identified with your PayPal Account.
- ● 2 Password. In this field, enter the API Password identified with your PayPal Account.
- ● 3 Signature. In this field, enter the API Signature identified with your PayPal Account.
- ● 4 Sandbox. Uncheck the “Enable” box to remove this from Sandbox mode.
Once you have completed the above fields, make sure to click the Save button. You have now completed the process of setting up the PayPal Payment Method.
